Trained as an architect, Doha’s practice engages in critical multidisciplinary projects that concentrate on participatory design & research in Cairo, Egypt. Her interest in urbanism has driven her to work with multiple local institutions and grassroots initiatives in collaboration with international designers and partners. Over the years, Doha has accumulated intensified knowledge of Cairo’s complex urban landscape. Her current fellowship with the Prince Claus Funds takes a rather artistic turn as she focuses on investigating the performing arts landscape in Egypt and the possibilities of using performative spatial practices to generate an understanding of the built environment in Egypt. Her professional interests also expand into academia as she served as a teaching and research assistant at the department of Architecture at the American University in Cairo since 2018.
